Can we get back to this? I miss this.

The front cover of The Red & Black from November 12, 2007. Yes, ‘Black Power’ was my idea.

The front cover of The Red & Black from November 12, 2007. Yes, ‘Black Power’ was my idea.

So I heard on the way home from work that Washaun Ealey is transferring from UGA. Whatever we thought of him, he was our leading rusher last year (1,528 yards and 14 touchdowns in two years). Right now, this is what I keep hearing in my head.

"I can understand why you wouldn’t like him, but I have no idea why you think he is anything but a good man."

- A friend of mine speaking about my apparently unfounded hatred of Urban Meyer. Seriously?! Full disclosure, he’s a Florida grad, but he’s not an idiot. Can he not see that Meyer is a bad person? If you went over every instance of evil in Meyer’s career with a Florida fan, even a maniac would be a little uneasy about having him represent their program. Then again, it is Florida.

"How is it when [Georgia] signs people, they get the ‘best,’ but when we play, we’ve got the best players? Georgia has signed a lot of good players. Something just happens to them at Georgia, I guess."

- Steve Spurrier in 1991, after Florida clinched its first SEC championship with a 45-13 win over Georgia

I wasn’t paying attention to college football when Spurrier was killing Georgia while he was at Florida, so I don’t hate him as much as I hate Urban Meyer. Mostly, I’m used to seeing us beat his new team, South Carolina, and laughing at the funny things he says. Either way, the fact that I find this quote a little funny probably makes my friends reassert my “worst fan ever” moniker. Meh.
